Robert Fernández just before appearing before the press / VICTOR SALGADO - FCB

First team technical secretary Robert Fernández assessed the situations of several players in the Barça squad in a press conference at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. He responded to questions about various names who are being bandied about as possible arrivals at the Club, as well as players who are staying or leaving. One such case was that of Neymar. “Neymar will stay. He will reach an agreement with Barça and he will be here for a long time. The Club will make it public when the extension is to be made,” assured Robert Fernández, quelling any possible rumours to the contrary about the player.

Furthermore, Fernández also confirmed the departures of Dani Alves and Sandro, as well as revealing that Marc-André ter Stegen will continue at the Club.

Dani Alves

“Dani has decided to leave. It’s a personal decision and one that we respect.”
“Alves is a much loved played and his behaviour on and off the field has been fantastic. But it is his decision and we have to respect that.”

“We are looking for the best solution. He is a great player and he obviously needs to play. I don’t want him to leave, but if he does, I want him to stay linked to the Club.”

“He is leaving and it is my decision.”

“I want him to play. If he has no chance then will look for a solution.”

Aleix Vidal

“We have confidence in him to play at right back. For that reason we signed him. When we made the decision, everyone was in agreement.”

“He has a contract and I have not received a call to tell me he will be leaving.”

“He is a player that we tried to get but in the end we could not do anything. He is a Celta player and we respect the club and the player and I will not make any more statements.”

Denis Suárez

“Villarreal already know our intention, from 1 July, more or less, they will be notified about his return.”

“We have total confidence in him. We expect a lot and we are looking forward to him being an important player next season.”

Ter Stegen and Bravo

“We have two great keepers and both will continue.”

“I have not spoken to the player nor with Paris Saint Germain.”
