Rival watch: Arsenal draw ahead of visit to Camp Nou

FC Barcelona's Champions League last 16 opponents, who visit Camp Nou a week from Wednesday, drew at Tottenham on Saturday

It was another scintillating weekend of football featuring FC Barcelona's past, present and future rivals in the three competitions currently up for grabs, all of which can still be snatched up by the streaking Catalans.

After meeting their demise at home in the first leg of the Champions League last 16, Arsenal will come to Camp Nou on Wednesday, 16 March in pursuit of a second-leg miracle. While the Gunners appear poised to bow out of continental play, the road has been equally rocky back in England, where they drew 2–2 at Tottenham on Saturday, dealing a blow to their Premier League title hopes.

It could have been worse, though, as Alexis Sánchez drew Arsenal level 14 minutes from time to avert defeat. The draw between the second- and third-ranked teams in the Premier sees them both fall two points further behind leaders Leicester City.

Back in Spain's La Liga, fifth-place Sevilla, who will clash with FC Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final in Madrid on 21 May, tied 1–1 at Getafe. Getafe, who are 16th in the La Liga pecking order and visit Barça next weekend, snapped a five-game skid ahead of Saturday's 4.00pm matinee at Camp Nou.

The La Liga game of the week featured a marquee matchup on Sunday night, when second-place Atlético Madrid scored a 3–1 victory at Valencia, allowing the Colchoneros to keep pace with Barça.

Elsewhere in the land of Don Quixote, Real Madrid exploded for six second-half goals en route to a 7–1 trouncing of visiting Celta on Saturday afternoon at the Bernabéu.
