Match Preview: SD Eibar v FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona visit the Ipurua Municipal Stadium to take on Eibar on Sunday for Week 28 of La Liga (4.00pm CET) aiming for an eleventh consecutive league win.

Luis Enrique announced his 19-man squad on Saturday which sees four Brazilian players miss out and one return.

Rafinha, Adriano and Douglas were unable to make the trip through injury, neither could Neymar Jr due to suspension, but Dani Alves is back in the squad after being suspended for the mdweek game at Rayo Vallecano.

José Luis Mendilibar welcomes back Ander Capa from suspension as well as Antonio Luna from injury after the pair missed last week’s 1-0 defeat at Sevilla.

Coaches’ viewpoint

Despite the team’s superb form, Luis Enrique refuses to get carried away: “Everything is on very good track, but that hardest part is still ahead of us, the final and decisive stage of the season.”

Speaking of how his side will set up against Barça, Mendilibar responded: “We have to be ourselves, not to change, aim to not commit mistakes, and not to lose the ball needlessly.”

Barça could not be in better shape having racked up ten straight league wins and currently enjoying a 35-match unbeaten streak.

Eibar, on the other hand, are experiencing a turbulent spell with six losses in their last seven after an excellent first half of the season.

History

Last campaign saw the first ever meeting between the two sides at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium, a game which the Catalans came out on top thanks to a brace from Leo Messi (2-0).

The Basques put up a good fight earlier in the season at the Camp Nou, taking the lead through Borja Bastón before Luis Suárez netted a hat-trick to secure a 3-1 win for Barça.
