Luis Enrique in the press conference ahead of Sevilla / MIGUEL RUIZ - FCB

Barça go to one of the most difficult stadiums to visit in the league this Saturday with several players missing due to injury. In the Sánchez Pizjuán they will come up against a Sevilla side who also have problems with various squad members absent due to physical problems. For the Barça coach “it’s a situation that comes about and it happens to all teams at some point.” In that sense the Asturian coach refused to use injuries as an excuse, warning: “It does not matter what happens, we will still battle and be united.”

The latest name to be added to the already long injury list was Andrés Iniesta against Bayer Leverkusen. Despite the rash of players out, Luis Enrique is confident of his team’s abilities: “Over the season it is the squad that wins, even though we do have the best player in the world Leo Messi. I have the utmost confidence in my squad.”

On the task facing his team on Saturday at 4.00pm CET, Luis Enrique sees a tough contest on the horizon. The game against Sevilla will be the final one in a series of seven games in just 21 days. “The [international] break will be good as it will allow us to recover from all the matches we have played.” Barça’s opponents before the hiatus in the calendar have not started the season well, something that has surprised the blaugrana boss. “That just confirms the difficulty of the Spanish League,” he added.

Claudio Bravo is back training with the squad and Luis Enrique said that when he receives the medical all clear, he will decide whether he comes back in on purely footballing terms. Finally, the Barça boss proclaimed his delight with Luis Suárez’s current form: “He has always performed for us, even when the stats might have indicated otherwise.”
