Iniesta in action against Chelsea / MIGUEL RUIZ-FCB

After the draw against Chelsea that rounded off the 2015 US Tour for Barça, the captain Andrés Iniesta summed up the trip across the Atlantic as a positive one. “There are positive things and others to improve, like at the start of every season. We are still trying to prepare ourselves as best we can through training sessions and matches and, beyond results, I think we have to be positive.” He continued: “Once home, we will keep preparing for what’s coming, which is important.”

Nevetheless, the Barça number 8 recognised that there had been one negative in particular. For Iniesta, “the worst news was the injury to Douglas, it’s a difficult time because he was playing and so we hope he can come back quickly and well.”

Speeded up process

All in all, Iniesta considered the squad’s development to be satisfactory in this phase of preseason. “We have been training 20 days, and everything has to be speeded up because competitive matches are coming so that’s what we are doing,” he revealed. The European Super Cup is in two weeks time. “Everything is preparation, but when you are in the competitive stage, you want to come into in the best shape possible with everyone fit,” concluded the midfielder.
