How FC Barcelona's international players fared

With plenty of FC Barcelona players in action for their countries, here is an overview of how they got on:

Gerard Piqué

The Barça centre-back played a part in Spain’s first clear goal scoring opportunity against England. He also had a long-rage strike sail just wide of Joe Hart’s post via a deflection.

Sergio Busquets

The 27-year-old once again showed his importance in the centre of the field and came close to scoring in the first half with a volley from the edge of the box. The Catalan was taken off with 12 minutes to go for Atletico Madrid’s Koke.

Andrés Iniesta

The midfield maestro was one of the top performers of the first half, with Spain’s most threatening play coming from his feet. Iniesta supplied some good passes to the strikers but with no end product.

Jordi Alba

The Barça full-back was a force down the left touchline and linked up well with Nolito in the second half.

Marc Bartra

A very complete game from the central defender alongside club teammate Pique, providing security at the back. Bartra looked comfortable and is growing ever more accustomed to the national team’s style.

Arda Turan

The summer signing was instrumental in Turkey’s 2-1 win over Qatar, scoring the equaliser and then setting up the winning goal with a cross from the right.

Thomas Vermaelen

The centre-back did not feature in Belgium’s 3-1 win over Italy in Brussels

Neymar Jr.

The Brazilian star was unable to demonstrate his ability in a complicated match against fierce rivals Argentina, restricting Neymar to just two shots on goal.

Dani Alves

The full-back provided the cross which eventually led to Brazil’s equaliser. Douglas Costa’s header from Alves’ cross hit the bar which then fell to Lucas Lima who would eventually find the net.

Claudio Bravo

The Chilean goalkeeper played all 90 minutes of his side's 1-1 draw with Colombia in their third qualifying game for the 2018 World Cup. Bravo's performance was key for his team in avoiding defeat and picking up a point.

Javier Mascherano

Argentina’s vice-captain played a typical combative role in midfield, limiting Brazil’s attack-minded players to minimal opportunities.

The youngster came on after 73 minutes in Spain U21's 5-0 win over Georgia.
