FC Barcelona Technical Secretary Robert Fernández, who is currently in Yokohama, Japan, where the team is getting ready for Thursday's semi-final of the Club World Cup, spoke on the Club's behalf regarding the UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw, which took place earlier on Monday, and in which FC Barcelona were paired with Arsenal.

"The tie is going to be open and very tough," he said from the special press room set up to follow the draw from the hotel in Yokohama. "[Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger] has a very good team, magnificent players and they play good football. We're going to have fun."

Fernández emphasised the importance of the first leg, to be played in London. "We have to be very sharp in the first game. It is vital to get a good result there," he said, while recalling the similar styles of football played by Barça and Arsenal. "Their philosophy is like ours," he said.

Fernández acknowledged that they were expecting to draw "a tough opponent," but also admitted to having a bit of satisfaction for having been lucky to avoid teams like Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
