Rafinha to miss the Copa América Centenario

The FC Barcelona midfielder will not play in the competition due to injury

The Brazilian Football Confederation announced on Tuesday that FC Barcelona midfielder Rafinha will miss this summer's Copa America Centenario — in which Brazil is a participant — because of an injury.

The midfielder was forced to leave the team's training site and will not be able to play in the tournament, which will be held in the United States and in celebration of the competition's 100th anniversary.

Brazil's head coach, Dunga, has called on Lucas Moura to replace Rafinha.

Rafinha played as recently as 22 May in the final of the Copa del Rey against Sevilla, which was FC Barcelona's final game of the season. Rafinha came on in the second half for the injured Luis Suárez.

Rafinha has been summoned for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Whether he plays will depend on his recovery.
