FC Barcelona's medical services team said Monday that the first team players Rafael 'Rafinha' Alcantara and Thomas Vermaelen have suffered injuries.

The Brazilian picked up a strain to his left adductor, and his availability for upcoming matches will depend on the speed of his recovery. The Belgian defender, meanwhile, suffered an elongation in the soleus of his right leg.

Rafinha, who was out nearly seven months after tearing his right ACL last fall, returned to action on Tuesday in FC Barcelona's Champions League quarter-final first leg versus Atlético Madrid. He played 30 minutes, and then started in Saturday's match at Anoeta versus Real Sociedad, playing the first half before being replaced by Andrés Iniesta at the intermission.

Vermaelen has made 20 appearances this campaign, 15 of which have been as a starter in what is his second campaign with the club.
