Neymar extends lead in the race for the Pichichi Trophy

The striker is in top form and, after a double versus Real Sociedad, he reaffirms his lead on the La Liga goalscoring list

Neymar is in the building. FC Barcelona's number 11 is having a breakout season and is doing it all as part of the team's so-called Trident, which looks to be on its way to another record-breaking season. After notching two more goals in Barça's 4–0 victory over Real Sociedad on Saturday at Camp Nou, Neymar continues to lead the league in scoring. His 14 in La Liga this year lead the Pichichi race and are two more than the 12 that have been bagged by his teammate Luis Suárez, who is second on the list.

Neymar, who scored two other goals against BATE Borisov at Camp Nou in the UEFA Champions League, has 16 overall. Here's a look at how he's been racking them up:

The assist man

On top of all the goals, Neymar has been helping his teammates score them too. He assisted Lionel Messi on the final goal of the game versus Real Sociedad, Neymar's fifth of the season in La Liga. He also has three assists in the Champions League, giving him a total of eight.

Better than last season

Neymar scored all of 15 goals in his first season with Barça, just one more than he has right now. And last year, during which Barça won the treble, through the same 13 games he has played this year, Neymar had only managed 13 goals and 3 assists.
