Luis Suárez is having a fantastic week scoring wise. With four more goals in FC Barcelona’s 6–0 victory over Sporting on Saturday night at Camp Nou, the Uruguayan striker now has eight goals in his last two games, putting him at the top of the La Liga goal scoring list with 34 goals.

“All of these goals in the last two games have surprised me a little bit,” Suarez said. “I'm happy to be able to help the team.”

Suárez now has 50 goals on the season across all competitions and has broken his own personal record from last season, when he scored 49.

“It wasn't any kind of obsession or objective,” he said. The striker, in addition, knows full well what the team’s intentions are: “The most important thing is to win La Liga.”

Despite the wide margin of victory over sporting, Suarez said it did not come easily. “We weren't playing at the rhythm we wanted, and we weren't moving the ball with speed,” he said.

“We had to reflect on our play at half time because we weren't playing a good game.”

For Suárez, one of the keys to the late avalanche of goals was Lionel Messi. “He's the one who controls the team. When he's sharp, the team is very grateful.”

FC Barcelona have now won two straight after a three-game losing streak in the league. “We drew conclusions about the mistakes we had made and we continue to control our own destiny,” Suárez said.

Gerard Piqué and Claudio Bravo also spoke to the media after the game.

Piqué

“It's very difficult for Barça to win without playing well, and we weren't smooth in the first half.”

“In the second half we started to play our game and we were able to put them back on their heels, and the goals came.”

“We are Barça and we know that we have a unique opportunity to win the league. If we take all nine points left in play, we will be the champions.”

Neymar is very important to the team and we have to support him the way he deserves because he has given us a lot.”

“The referee’s decisions at the end of the game did not have any influence on the result.”

Claudio Bravo

“We controlled the game much better in the second half than the first because we were much more intense.”

“When the team doesn't give up goals we are much more relaxed because we know we have a lot of potential on attack.”

“We have to come out and play our game and with that intensity we will be able to get the nine points left in play.”

“We have to stay calm and believe in ourselves. We know it's tough because everyone is playing for something, but we are more than good enough.”

Before the game, the players from FC Barcelona and Sporting displayed a sign with the slogan "professional football with Ecuador" in support of all those affected by the earthquake that occurred this week in the South American country.
