Five-time UEFA Champions League winners FC Barcelona and five-time Super Bowl champs the San Francisco 49ers, for whom such legendary American football stars such as Joe Montana have played, met on Friday following the Catalan squad's training session at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Two of the most famous teams in world sport appeared side by side in a photo that also featured the five Vince Lombardi Trophies — named after the fabled coach of the Green Bay Packers, who won the first two Super Bowls in 1966 and 1967 and which were claimed by the Niners as well as the three trophies that Barça just won in their historic treble year.

The 49ers were represented in this historic photo by offensive tackle Joe Staley and free safety Eric Reid, while Andrés IniestaSergio Busquets, and Gerard Piqué were there for Barça. Afterwards the players had a go at each other’s respective sports, first with a soccer ball and then with an American football.

The meeting produced some curious images, such as that of Piqué acting as a wide receiver with Reid playing quarterback and Staley providing the coverage. The players also took shots at a soccer goal but using an American football! The players ended by posing for a picture with a local children’s soccer team, Gatos United.
