FC Barcelona begin the defence of their Champions League title on Wednesday away to AS Roma (8.45 PM CET). The Italian club finished Serie A runners-up last campaign and currently occupy fourth spot with seven points from the first three matches. After drawing their first game of the season against Hellas Verona (1-1), Roma have beaten Juventus 2-1 at home and Frosinone 2-0 away.
Edin Dzeko, on loan from Manchester City, is Roma’s main attacking threat. The Bosnian centre forward is one of just five players who has started all three matches in Serie A so far this season. The others are goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, defenders Alessandro Florenzi and Kostas Manolas, and midfield veteran Daniele De Rossi.
Amongst the Italians’ ranks are two former Barça players: Seydou Keita and Iago Falque. Both have featured in all three league matches while the latter got his name on the scoresheet against Frosinone on the weekend.
