During today’s presentation of Ivan Rakitic, Andoni Zubizarreta announced that the international players involved in the World Cup would make their return from July 24.

The eight players whose teams failed to make it past the group stages  - Spain’s Piqué, Alba, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta and Pedro, Cameroon’s Song and Croatia’s Rakitic- will be available for Luis Enrique from July 24, whilst Chile’s Claudio Bravo and Alexis Sánchez are due back four days later.

Zubizarreta insisted: “it would be great if both Messi and Neymar were in the World Cup final – from a Barça point of view, we would be guaranteed a winner!”.On my list Xavi is still the number 6. He's a symbol at the Club. The Club’s Sporting Director was also asked about Xavi’s situation and revealed: “we are in constant discussions with Xavi Hernández.  He is still under contract with us and on my list, the number 6 is still Xavi. If he stays we will be delighted, but if new options are opened for him, we will respect that. He is a symbol of this Club. When we have any news, we will let you know”.

Zubizarreta also revealed that with the incorporation of  Rakitic and with Rafinha, Sergi Roberto, Xavi and Iniesta in the squad: “we have no need for any more midfielders” and whilst denying any interest in Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba, he also admitted that: “the  market is open until the end of August”.There are a lot of good central defenders, but not many at the level we demand As regards any other signings, Zubi explained: “we are clear about our objectives, but there hasn’t been much movement amongst the big clubs in terms of centre halves, because nearly everyone is looking to strengthen that position. There are signings that happen quickly and others that demand more time. There are a lot of good central defenders, but not many at the level we demand”.

Zubizarreta also confirmed that the Club is “not negotiating any deal for Adriano at the moment” and also confirmed that Pedro is “not for sale”, whilst admitting: “we have received offers for him, but I don’t know where it will end, it would be great if he stayed with us, he has been one of the best strikers at the World Cup”.
