Monday was the first day of training since the internationals departed, and there was both good and bad news for Luis Enrique. German keeper Marc-André ter Stegen was able to train normally for the first time since picking up a back injury on August 15 and the Medical Services have declared that he is fully recovered. But now it’s fellow stopper Jordi Masip who is out for about four weeks after fracturing his right little finger.

Leo Messi and Andrés Iniesta trained separately from the rest of the team as they battle to recover from their fitness troubles that they have picked up over the last few days.

That meant there were ten first team players at the Ciutat Esportiva today, including Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen, who was able to train with his new colleagues for the first time, albeit only for part of a session that also featured Montoya, Piqué, Xavi, Luis Suárez, Douglas, Adriano and Dani Alves.
