Sergi Roberto talking to Barça TV

Sergi Roberto received the medical all clear this Wednesday after missing the victories over Ajax and Almería due to a groin problem. The Barça midfielder confessed to Barça TV that he feels much better physically: “I had a slight groin problem but now I’m back training with the rest of the squad. Not playing with the U21’s has given me time to recover.”

The blaugrana number 20 believes the next two league matches against first Sevilla then Valencia will be vital. “They are very strong and right behind us so they are very important matches in which we have to give everything,” he added. He knows they will have to be at “100 per cent” during the 9 matches that remain between now and the Christmas break.

I hope that between now and December I can get some minutes and regain match fitness

The local born player sees those games as a great opportunity to get some playing time. “There are a lot matches coming up, the Spanish Cup as well. I hope between now and December I can get some minutes to regain match fitness, which is what is most important for a player,” he revealed. For the midfielder picking up as many points as possible before the Christmas and New Year break is of paramount importance.

To round off, Sergi Roberto also mentioned facing Gerard Deulofeu this Saturday: “I am really looking forward to seeing him. Before I saw him with the U21’s and it will be strange to see him in a shirt that is not the Barça one.”
