Real Madrid made it 14 goals in a week, beating Eibar 3-0 at the Bernabéu on Saturday afternoon. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his eighth goal in four games to open the scoring with a free kick on 21 minutes and with Benzema rested and Bale injured again, it was the fringe players who wrapped it up with Javier Hernández adding the second before the break and Jesé scoring the third late on.
Atlético held at Málaga
The win leaves Real on 73 points, two behind Barça and seven ahead of city rivals and Champions League quarter final opponents Atlético Madrid, who were held 2-2 at Málaga on Saturday, with Antoine Griezmann grabbing a brace after the unfortunate Fernando Torres had put through his own goal.
PSG lift League Cup
PSG lifted their second trophy of the season as they retained the French League Cup with an emphatic 4-0 win over Bastia. The Corsicans’ chances were dealt a heavy blow early on, when Squillaci was shown red for a foul in the box: Ibra made no mistake from the spot and Bastia faced 70 minutes with just ten men. Another strike from the ex-Barça Swedish international doubled the score before half time and the Uruguayan Cavani grabbed another two late on to give Laurent Blanc’s side the perfect lift ahead of Barça’s visit on Wednesday.
