Nine Barça players will be in the Catalonia squad / PHOTO: FCF

The manager of the Catalan national team, Gerard López, named his team on Tuesday for the friendly match with the Basque Country on Sunday December 28 at the new San Mamés (Bilbao).

Nine of the squad are from FC Barcelona, namely Martín Montoya, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernández, Marc Bartra, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto, Jordi Masip of the first team and Sergi Samper of the reserves.

The squad also includes Gerard Deulofeu, who is currently on loan to Barça from Sevilla, and players with a Barça past such as Jonathan Soriano (Red Bull Salzburg), Andreu Fontàs (Celta) and Sergi Gómez (Celta).

Five in women's team

Catalonia Women's coach Natàlia Arroyo also named her squad for the game between the Basque Country and Catalonia. Five of the team are from FCB, namely Laura Ràfols, Marta Torrejón, Vicky Losada, Alexia Putellas and Marta Corredera. The game will be played the day before the men’s match, on Saturday, in Barakaldo.
