Neymar in Brazil squad for Copa América

The FC Barcelona striker will be one of the key figures for la 'canarinha' in the tourament which will be played in Chile

The Brazil coach Dunga has announced on Tuesday his squad for next month’s Copa América which will take place in Chile. One of the most outstanding names on the list is that of blaugrana Neymar, one of several representatives from Spanish football included in the party of 23 players. Real Madrid’s Marcelo, Valencia’s Diego Alves and Atlético Madrid’s Miranda are also in the squad as are other well known names from other European clubs such as Felipe Luis, David Luiz, Thiago Silva and Coutinho.

The Copa América is the oldest international tournament in football with the 10 South American members of CONMEBOL taking part plus two invited national sides. Brazil have won the tournament on eight previous occasions and they open their campaign on 14 June against Peru. Also in Group C along with Dunga’s side are Colombia and Venezuela. The tournament begins on 11 June with the final scheduled for 4 July.

Dunga’s squad:

Goalkeepers: Jefferson (Botafogo), Diego Alves (Valencia) and Marcelo Grohe (Gremio).

Defenders: Fabinho (Monaco), Marcelo (Reial Madrid), Filipe Luís (Chelsea), David Luiz (PSG), Marquinhos (PSG), Miranda (Atlético Madrid), Danilo (Porto) and Thiago Silva (PSG).

Midfielders: Luiz Gustavo (Wolfsburg), Fernandinho (Manchester City), Elias (Corinthians), Casemiro (Porto), Éverton Ribeiro (Al-Ahli), Douglas Costa (Shakhtar), Willian (Chelsea) and Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool).

Forwards: Neymar (FC Barcelona), Roberto Firmino (Hoffenheim), Robinho (Santos) and Diego Tardelli (Shandong Luneng).
