Marcelino says his team have to play with their 'heads'

The Villarreal coach believes that to beat the blaugranes his team have to play not just with 'their hearts'

Villarreal are optimistic with the ‘Yellow Submarine’ just 90 minutes away from their first ever Spanish Cup final. This Wednesday sees one of the most important matches in the club’s history and their coach Marcelino García Toral is only too aware of the fact: “It’s a different game because we have the chance of getting into the final. We have to know that we have a disadvantage from the first leg and we are up against a really difficult rival, but hope is the last thing we will lose.”

The ‘Yellow Submarine’ coach has outlined what he sees as the keys to overturning the 3-1 deficit from the first leg: “You can’t beat Barça with heart alone. You have to be very clever.” He continued: “We will try to be organised in defence, tight at the back. When we have the ball we have to be daring, precise and quick, something that is difficult.”

We will not go out and leave ourselves open. If there are goals, we will be in big trouble

He used the example of Barça’s matches against Manchester City in the Champions League and Atlético in the second of their Cup tie. “We will not go out and leave ourselves open. We have recent experience that helps us to that we can win with a clear idea of how to play. City and Atlético, both with the tie against them , conceded two goals in the opening 25 minutes playing that way.” “If there are goals, we will be in big trouble,” he rounded off.

For his part goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo, speaking after the draw in the Bernabéu, revealed his hopes for the second leg. “I hope the fans turn up to El Madrigal and get behind us because we will need it. We will fight to the death to turn things around. I am sure we have a chance.”
