Marc Bartra and Sergi Roberto ready for the challenge

The former FC Barcelona B players thought St George's Park was a wonderful experience They also agree that Luis Enrique learned a lot while at Roma and Celta and are hoping he'll give them the chances they deserve

Just before they left Birmingham, Marc Bartra and Sergi Roberto spoke to Barça TV and the club website about how much they enjoyed staying at St George’s Park.

Bartra felt it was hugely beneficial because “you spend the whole time with your team-mates working on football … Normally we just see each other for the two hours training, but here you spend the whole time with them, playing pool or table tennis.” And Sergi Roberto added that “we’ve been working on tactics, but most it has been fitness. But it’s all done with the ball, working on attacking and defensive matters.”

The Luis Enrique way

They both agree that it’s the same Luis Enrique that they remember from Barça B. “Luis motivates us a lot” says Bartra. “They were good times with the B team and now we can do the same in the first team. But we’re more ready now, and eager to do things well and to train hard.” Sergi Roberto agrees that "we’re doing more or less the same things that we did with the B team, the coaching staff are almost the same, there haven’t been many changes”.We’ve been working on tactics, but most it has been fitnessBartra is full of praise for the new head coach, saying that “he’s come back stronger after the two years he’s been away at Roma and Celta. He doesn’t only know how it works here, but he’s been elsewhere and come back with even more knowledge about both fitness and tactics”.
