Luis Suárez scored the winner in Sunday night's Clásico / MIGUEL RUIZ-FCB

Luis Suárez was one of the heroes of Sunday night’s Clásico and speaking on the ‘El Marcador’ show on Barça TV after the game, he claimed that his winner against Real Madrid “was the most important goal I have scored since I came to FC Barcelona … It was especially meaningful because we were at home to the toughest opponent of them all.”

Describing how it came about, the Uruguayan said “I needed to get the control of the ball right, and luckily it came off. It was a great pass from Alves, he read the play well. When I saw he’d stopped, I made a move and he placed it just right. I didn’t even look at Casillas because in a situation like that you always go for the far post. If you go for the near post, the keeper will almost always have it covered”.It was a great pass from Dani AlvesDespite the result, the striker called for prudence. “The win puts us in a better position in the table and is a boost for our confidence” he said. “But we are also aware that we still have little margin for error and that Real Madrid are Real Madrid. Our fate is in our own hands, but we need to keep working hard and take nothing for granted. We haven’t won the league yet.”
