It was a double debut in the Camp Nou tonight as the FC Barcelona squad for 2014/15 was officially unveiled and former player Luis Enrique took his place on the manager’s bench.  Speaking after the match, the manager allowed himself some satisfaction at his players’ performance in their 6-0 win over Club Leon: “We have to learn how to look for alternatives in the system adjusting to what we have in front of us...and we did”.

“The manager has to put together a team with the squad he has, and we’ve got an amazing squad”.  “We’ve strengthened really well, the Club has made a big effort and I’ve got a unique squad”The manager has to put together a team with the squad he has, and we’ve got an amazing squad

Next weekend sees the start of the league campaign so reporters were keen to hear the manager’s opinion on the readiness of his squad: “We’re in good shape as I expected and we’ll keep on improving with matches and training.  In terms of football I would have preferred to have had two months more, but pre-seasons are what they are”.  Luis Enrique singled one aspect of tonight’s performance: “We can’t press by decree – you have to be organized and targeted.  It’s important to have the ball but it’s also important to win it back as soon as possible”. The manager had plenty of praise for his forwards tonight but admitted: “That’s not difficult when good players get together”.  He had words for Neymar Jr – “a good performance” – and two-goal hero Munir“We knew that Munir has the quality, how far he goes depends on him.  It’s a delight to have the reserve squad we have”.
