Luis Enrique in the press room in Berlin / MIGUEL RUIZ - FCB

The Champions League final is here and with little over 24 hours to go before kick off Barça coach Luis Enrique appeared relaxed in his appearance before the press ahead of Saturday’s clash between Juventus and FC Barcelona in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The Asturian sent a message of optimism from the press room in Germany and hope that Barça can lift the Champions League trophy and claim the treble. “The team is where I want it to be at this point with two trophies and the chance to make history,” he added.

Luis Enrique gave his thoughts on what he kind of game awaits Barça in Berlin. “I imagine a game in which we can have a lot of the ball and we can be in the Juventus half more, but I am sure that it will not be easy,” he warned. In that sense, the blaugrana boss believes that the final is not a clash of styles: “Juventus like to have the ball as well, even though they play well in their own half they have plenty else to offer.” The blaugrana coach said that the only objective for his team is to “put in a good performance and be better than our rivals,” and he warned “the midfield could be vital.”

The Barça coach added that Iniesta feels fine physically and he reciprocated the praise received from Juventus coach Allegri: “He has always won trophies…but I hope he doesn’t do the treble.”

Below more from Luis Enrique in the press room at the Olympiastadion in Berlin:

“The fans have to feel the game with excitement and hope that we win the trophy.”

“The midfield tends to be crucial. We want to dominate in every area, we want to exploit our virtues and minimize Juventus’ strong points.”

“Given the strength of both sides, the most normal thing would be a final with plenty of goals. However, finals have a component of special tension which makes them unpredictable.”

“It’s obvious that the players up front have more media presence but to get to here you need to be a complete team. All the players are vital.”

“We are before a unique generation of players. The world of football is expecting a great final with two teams ready for the battle.”

“If both teams here are ready to make history for their clubs, that means we have done things very well.”
