After the great evening on Wednesday in the Champions’ League against Paris Saint-Germain, Barça are back in league action with the trip to Madrid to take on Getafe. A change of competition brings its own problems according to coach Luis Enrique in his pre-match appearance before the press on Friday: “After the Champions League it could well appear a lesser game but we will be up against a difficult side at a ground that is always difficult to win at.” He continued: “Getafe have dynamic players in attack and are dangerous in the air, we will have to be careful.”

The Barça boss was clear about his team’s objective: “It’s key to win at Getafe to maintain our good form.” The blaugranes have won eight matches in a row in all competitions. “There are good and bad moments but right now we are in good form and we can’t lose our focus,” reasoned the former Barça player. The coach went on to highlight the team’s defensive performances over the last few matches. “It’s well worthy of mention the defensive work of all the players. In attack the forwards have more freedom,” he explained. Furthermore, the Asturian was at pains not to overplay the tactical variation used on Wednesday, but he did praise the players for the way they dealt with it. “We have to use the variations possible to us, we did it with Barça B as well but that was not picked up as much,” Luis Enrique reminded everyone.

Despite the team’s current impressive state, the coach is looking beyond the here and now: “The team is constantly evolving, we will never get to that 100% moment.” Luis Enrique was only focused on sporting matters concerning his team and his desire for his team to remain switched for their return to league action on Saturday.
