[[DES_1]]Barça have beaten Atlético Madrid for the second time in ten days, this time 1-0 in the cup. Luis Enrique feels it was a fair result, saying after the game that “it means we can feel optimistic about the second leg. But we have to go out to win at the Vicente Calderón”.

It was a typically intense battle between these familiar foes, and it took Barça 83 minutes to finally break the deadlock. “Defensively, they’re one of the best teams in the world” said the first team manager. “We expected them to make things difficult for our attackers … We knew that to hurt Atlético we would need to be compact in both phases of the match.”I never settle for future results

There is no way that Luis Enrique will be taking his team to Madrid for the second leg to merely sit on this lead. “Before we even played this match, it was always our intention to win the return leg” he explained. “This was a very positive result, but I never settle for future results. Atlético still have a lot to say. It looks like it’ll be an attractive game because we’re up against a team that will also be out for a win”.

“The team defended brilliantly today” he added. “And that’s important for getting through matches.” As for the cold and the horrendously late kick off time, the Asturian expressed his gratitude to the 62,000 fans that came to the Camp Nou, saying that “they have once again shown that they are here for the team and are hungry for us to give them something to enjoy.”

Nothing decided for Bartomeu

FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu commented after the match that “nothing has been decided yet. We have to score at the Calderón because this game is still wide open … This was a very intense match between two great teams.” He was also delighted that 62,225 people attended the match. “I thank the people for coming despite the weather and the time” he said.
