FC Barcelona striker Leo Messi has surpassed Raul's Champions League scoring record of after getting a hat trick at GSP Stadium. With 74 goals, Messi is now number one all-time. He was positive about the record although he believes the most important thing is the result: "It's nice to get the record in such a beautiful competition but the most important was the victory. We played a great game."

The Argentinian is aware that, despite the victory in Cyprus, the team must beat PSG to be first in the group: "It will be a difficult game, we know that they have very good players and that they are growing as a team and becoming stronger. We are the home team and we have to play a good game to end up in first place."

Finally, Messi said that "We're Barça and we'll try to achieve our goal at beginning of the year to win everything. We have to stay on this path."

Postgame comments and declarations from other players:

Luis Suárez

"I had no anxiety score. I knew the time would come. So far, I've been helping in the best way. The important thing is to get results and that's what we were doing."

"The team played very well in the first half. We played like we wanted."

"It depends on the moment, I 'll play in the middle with Messi on the right, but this can change. If Leo moves to the middle, I move right. The manager said so."

"We knew that the PSG was favoured to win at Ajax and now it depends on us to play better at home to beat PSG."

"Messi and I understand each other very well, whomever plays in the middle."

"I made two mistakes and I saw two yellow cards. It is a silly mistake and I'll learn. The referee could have kept one card in his pocket. I'll learn from this."

"The coach's confidence is vital. I came to the club to make it hard on the best in the world with humility."

"The next Champions League match, we're all going to come out like gangbusters for first place."

Ivan Rakitic

"We played a complete game. Every team had to work hard to win here, even PSG."

"We are very happy for Luis Suarez and for Messi. They are things that improve the team and make us stronger."

"I have no idea how many balls Messi has at home. We'll sign for him again. He is happy to have achieved this record and if he and the team are happy, it's very positive for us."

"There's only one Xavi. Luis Enrique already said it: It is always a joy when he plays with us."

Marc Bartra

"Whenever I get minutes I appreciate it and try to keep the team's level up when Luis Enrique puts me in."

"I think beside the good result the team has worked very well. We played a good match, not just the goals, but in pushing and defending well. The work pays off and we have to continue doing it."

"Leo Messi's record is spectacular, just amazing. Not even is your wildest dreams can you do what he is doing. The bar is so high. We're leaving Cyprus happy for Messi and for Luis Suarez's first goal."

"We’ll try to win the group. That's what we want and what we deserve. We'll try at Camp Nou."

Pedro Rodríguez

"We have a lot of confidence. We both started very well, pressing our rival and we got a big win. "

"We don't know what to say about Messi.  He played great. He's the best in the world. I congratulate him and I am happy to play with him. "

" Hopefully we can play a good game at home. Sure we'll get a lot of support. We know it will be very tough, but the fans will help us. "

" On Messi's hat- trick, I saw that he was alone and so I passed it to him. The most important thing is that the team is winning. "

" Messi looks really happy. It is not easy to do what he has done and what he still has to do. Messi wants to continue breaking records. That's very important for the team. "
