Allegri, a la roda de premsa / UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Buffon i Bonucci, a Berlín / UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Juventus opened the day’s press conferences with coach Massimiliano Allegri and players Gianluigi Buffon and Leonardo Bonucci appearing before the gathered multitude of journalists at the Olympic Stadium. “It’s the most important game of our lives, at least up until now,” admitted the coach of La Vecchia Signora. According to the Juve boss, “every player will give his all, it’s a unique experience and a defining game.”

Allegri could not hide his respect for Barça but at the same time was he able to hide his ambition. “More than denying our opponents, we have to think about scoring ourselves,” said the Italian coach. He did not hide his feelings about the blaugranes attacking force: “We have thought about how to stop them. They are extraordinary, we have to be really at the top of our game and accept that it won’t end 0-0, so we will have to score at least once.”

Luis Enrique and the current Juventus coach crossed swords during the Asturian’s time as Roma boss in Serie A. Allegri did not hold back with his praise for the blaugrana boss: “The results say it all. It is not as easy as it seems. We have seen that he knows exactly what he wants.” On losing his key defender Giorgio Chiellini to injury, the former AC Milan boss had this to say: “We are disappointed, he has had a magnificent season both on and off the field.”

Below we reproduce some of the most telling comments from the Juventus players in the press conference:

Gianluigi Buffon

“The emotional aspect will be present and it will have an important role. Two teams will be in action who have lots of experience and I imagine there will be nerves initially - soon though we will see both teams and what they are made of.”

“On paper Barça are favourites because they have wonderful players. However, we are no sacrificial lambs. In a final things are much more equal.”

“Ter Stegen impresses me and he has shown that the promise is real. I wish him the best.”

Leonardo Bonucci

“We have got to the final thanks to a fantastic group of players. I don’t think it is the Barça attack against the Juve defence. It will be a great battle between two great teams.”

“Barça have only conceded 21 goals in the league, they know how to defend. I think this game will be won in midfield.”
