FC Barcelona beat Espanyol 2–0 on Saturday on goals from Neymar and Messi. After the big derby win, Andrés Iniesta gave his take: "We played a great first half and a very complete match. We knew that we had to play well to win here. We were very effective and didn’t give them any chances. It was a very special game for everyone and we’re leaving very happy." Iniesta also talked about the ovation he got when he was subbed out in the second half. "The Espanyol fans and I have a special bond, and I'm very grateful for the applause," he said.

The Barça midfielder recognised the team’s huge effort, especially after going down a man: "I'd rather play with eleven than with ten, because you have to make an enormous effort. But we were able to keep up the intensity and play our game."

Highlights of post-game reactions from other FC Barcelona players:

Sergio Busquets

"The league title is closer because there are fewer games left, but we have a tough rival right on our tails.”

"The tie with Bayern will be very difficult. They have great players and a great coach. Obviously it’ll be a very special for everyone but, after all, it’s a very important because it’s the semi-finals of the Champions League."

Jordi Alba

"We’ve had a very good season from the beginning until now. The team is physically healthy and plays with very clear ideas."

"They’re three very tough teams and we know that Bayern are very difficult opponents. Hopefully the opposite happens from what occurred two years ago and Barça qualify for the final."

"This is a major victory for what it means — a derby against Espanyol that leaves us with five games left in the league."

"The tie versus Bayern will be very special for me, my family, and the whole Club. But we know it’ll be very difficult."
