Piqué in front of the press on Friday / MIGUEL RUIZ-FCB

Gerard Piqué is a man who knows Barça inside out, a man who since returning to the Club has seen great successes but also trophies that have slipped away. It’s for that reason that the blaugrana centre back reveals that he is “enjoying immensely” this season. “To have the chance to win the treble at this point in the season doesn’t happen often. You have to go through tough times and this team is bombproof,” added Piqué.

When asked about his own performances in recent weeks, Piqué commented that “it has been good” and that with just four games left, two of them finals, “the most important thing is to get your head right. We want to win trophies and chase success.”

The Barça defender also touched on the following topics:

The season

“I focus on stretching myself, of getting better, of helping the team as best I can. And that is shown by the fact that we are close to winning three trophies with just a few games remaining. When we win them, then we will be able to say that the season has been a good one. I am happy with the fact that I am enjoying the current campaign.”

Possible treble

“We are fighting for the treble, but taking into account what is being said, I get the feeling that we have already won the treble. There is not much to go, but it is the most difficult part, we have to be united.”

“What I want is to win the league as quickly. Let’s hope that it is at the Calderón.”

“If we get to that point, it means that we have done everything very well indeed. I think people are behind us and are hungry for trophies.”

Point in favour

“What separates us from the rest of the teams and what we have to value is the number of players who have been here for a long time: Xavi, Andrés, Leo, Busi, Pedro, Masche…We have been here for many years now and that doesn’t happen often these days. There is a lot of pressure to win trophies. Here, due to the Club’s philosophy, for the way of approaching football, people have to continue to have faith in these players.”

Messi, Neymar and Luis Suárez

“When you win the main guys are the guys in attack and when you lose, it’s those in defence. I have never seen a front three like the one we have now. Recently, we have enjoyed to the full our strikers, but I say that for the way we play, for how they complement each other and how they have that understanding. They are one of a kind.”

The Champions League final

“Juventus have had a great season and they deserve to be there. We don’t feel as though we are favourites. The final is 50-50 and we will do what we have been doing in the last few months. We have a lot of respect for them.”

“Before retiring I would like to play in the final of the Champions League against Real Madrid. We know how hard it is to get to the final and for them to get there too.”
