Two more Barça B players made their first team debuts against Elche on Wednesday evening - Gerard Gumbau and Alen Halilovic.  With six B team youngsters in the squad, Luis Enrique gave the two their chance alongside Adama and Munir at the Martínez Valero.

Gerard Gumbau and Alen Halilovic are regulars in Eusebio’s Barça B team and on Wednesday night they both made their official first team debuts. The 20-year-old Gumbau, who joined the Club this summer from Girona, started the game in midfield alongside Sergi Roberto and Rafinha and after the game he explained that the boss had told him before the match: “relax and play the way you do for the B team. An admirer of Steven Gerrard, Gumbau believes: “if you want something, you can get there with sacrifice and hard work” and whilst admitting the B team are going through a rough patch he insisted “if we all help out we will get through it”.

Alen Halilovic came on just past the hour mark for the impressive Adama, taking up his spot on the right wing and the 18-year-old, who joined from Dynamo Zagreb in the summer, nearly scored soon after with a well-placed left footed shot that came back off the post. After the game, the Croatian – who has already represented his country at full international level – admitted: “this was a special day for me. I am confident about my future, but I know I need to work hard and take my chances”. Halilovic also revealed that his fellow Croat Ivan Rakitic has been a great support to him during his time at the Club so far: “Ivan has helped me with everything that I have needed”.
