Neymar Jr opened the scoring against PSG / MIGUEL RUIZ-FCB

1) Montoya, in place of Alves. Luis Enrique finally picked Martín Montoya as a stand-in for the suspended Dani Alves. The right back played 77 minutes of his eleventh game of the season and performed solidly. With the score at 3-0, he was substituted by Adriano.

2) Messi and Neymar Jr. The Argentinian and the Brazilian wreaked havoc this evening, especially in the opening 20 minutes. The former struck the post shortly before setting up Neymar Jr for the opening goal.

3) Injuries for Thiago Silva and Iniesta. David Luiz, a late inclusion in the PSG squad, came on for the injured Thiago Silva shortly after his international team-mate had put his side a goal down. FC Barcelona had injury troubles of their own when Iniesta was kneed in the back and had to be replaced by Xavi.

4) Magic from Suárez. Two works of art from the Uruguayan put Barça well in command. In the first, he rounded David Luiz, Marquinhos and Maxwell before tucking the ball away. In the second, he beat David Luiz again before finding the top right corner with a tremendous finish. Just as he did away to Manchester City, the Barça striker produced a fine brace of goals to put his team in strong contention for a place in the next round.

5) Unfortunate ending. PSG pulled a goal back when Van der Wiel’s shot hit Mathieu to surprise Ter Stegen, who seemed well prepared to save the initial attempt. The German had earlier denied Cavani with the finest save in what was a solid personal performance.
