On Friday morning, FC Barcelona trained for the final time before the Saturday’s derby against cross-city rivals Espanyol at Power8 Stadium. Luis Enrique had the full squad at his disposal, including team captain Xavi Hernández, who worked out on the side in the previous session but rejoined the group on Friday. Once again, Thomas Vermaelen, without medical clearance, worked out with his teammates.

The session began early so the team could follow Friday’s 12.00pm CET draw for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. The Barcelona derby is set for Saturday at 4.00pm CET. The squad list will be released by the coaching staff on Saturday morning.

Anti-doping tests

After training ten players were subjected to routine urine and blood tests carried out by UEFA: Ter Stegen, Piqué, Rakitic, Sergio, Xavi, Iniesta, Suarez, Messi, Dani Alves and Jordi Alba.
