Luis Suárez found the Rayo Vallecano net twice on Sunday / VICTOR SALGADO

  • Luis Suárez is continuing his amazing form in front of goal. With two goals in the 6-1 win against Rayo Vallecano, he has now scored six in four games, one every 58 minutes.
  • It’s the second brace he has scored in a Barça shirt. The first was against Manchester City in the Champions League.
  • Sunday brought Leo Messi’s 32nd career hat trick. It also beat the Liga record of 24, previously held by Athletic Bilbao legend Telmo Zarra.
  • Messi’s brilliant goalscoring form ties him at the top of the Liga goalscoring charts with Cristiano Ronaldo. The players have both scored 30 this season.
  • Barça have gone back to the top of the table for the third time this season. They led on the first day, and also from the fourth to sixth games of the campaign.
  • FC Barcelona are now the highest scoring team in La Liga with 76 goals. They also have the best defensive record after leaking just 16 goals in 26 games.
  • FC Barcelona have an incredible goalscoring record against Rayo Vallecano since the latter returned to the top flight in the 2011/12 season. They have scored 37 goals in eight games and have only conceded two.
  • Jordi Alba and Dani Alves will both miss the next league game away to Eibar. The Catalan was booked for the fifth time this term and the Brazilian was shown a red card.
  • That was the second direct red for a Barça player this season after Mascherano was also sent off against Elche.
