FC Barcelona to kick off 2014/15 season against Elche

Elche, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, will be the visitors to the Camp Nou on the opening day of the league season Atlético (away) and Deportivo (home) will be the final opponents of Barça’s 2014/15 campaign

The Liga fixture list for the 2014/15 season has been announced. FC Barcelona will start the season at home to Elche on the weekend of August 24 and 25, the same side they faced in the second-to-last game last term. After that, Luis Enrique will be leading his side against Villarreal (away), Athletic Bilbao (home), Levante (away) and Malaga (away), the latter being the first midweek fixture of the season.

First derby in December

After the clásico with Real Madrid in October, FC Barcelona will host the first local derby with Espanyol on December 6 or 7. The return leg at Cornellà-El Prat will be on April 26.

The run-in to the end of the season will see Barça facing Cordoba (away), Real Sociedad (home), Atlético Madrid (away) and finally Deportivo (home). So, after meeting in a dramatic last-day showdown in the 2013/14 season, Barça and the defending champions will be meeting on the second-to-last day of Liga action in 2014/15. The two sides will also face each other on January 10 or 11, the second game of the new year. Barça’s first game after the Christmas break will be away to Real Sociedad.
