[[DES_1]]Luis Enrique and his squad of 20 players have arrived in Amsterdam for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Ajax (8.45 PM CET). The plane touched down at Schiphol Airport at around 1.00 PM CET, after which the players were transferred directly to the Sofitel Le Grand Hotel.

The group are being led by vice-president Manel Arroyo. President Josep Maria Bartomeu will also be attending the match but is flying out on Wednesday. Other directors joining the team are Jordi Moix, Silvio Elías, Dídac Lee and Josep Ramon Vidal Abarca.

Training and press conference

As usual on the day before a Champions League match, the team will be training at the venue itself, in this case the Amsterdam Arena. That will be happening at 7.00 PM CET. Just before, at around 6.15 PM CET, Luis Suárez and Luis Enrique will be giving an official press conference.

Players sporting Nike Air Max 1

For the first time, the players were wearing Nike Air Max 1 trainers, which can be personalised with different designs and technologies, including the option of including the FC Barcelona crest.

Zubi feeling positive

Speaking shortly before the flight left, director of sport Andoni Zubizarreta said that “mid-group games are always important. We lost in Paris so now it’s important to get a win in Amsterdam. A positive result would be useful, especially after two consecutive defeats in the league. When you win, it all seems normal. But when you lose, there’s always controversy. Win or lose, the most important thing is our conviction in our ideas.”
