FC Barcelona’s Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic harbours a special bond with the city of Sevilla, the Andalusian capital where he lived the last few years while playing for Sevilla FC. On Saturday evening he will step back onto the grass at Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in what should be a day full of emotions. "Everything I experienced there left deep impressions. The city will always have a special place in my heart. I lived there for three and a half years so it’ll be a very special game," he said. In the build up to the match, Rakitic sat down with fcbarcelona.com. "I want to focus on my game and play well. We’ve got eight matches to go this season and to win this game would be pretty big."

Tough road match

Sevilla have not lost a home game in La Liga since the last time Barça came to town in February 2014. "Every team that come to Pizjuán know how tough it is to play there, and the fans there add to that pressure. But playing for Sevilla you also know how tough it is to play against Barca. We always had a very hard time,” Rakitic recalled. Now he’s back, this time wearing the Barça colours, but wants to leave his feelings aside. "I’m going give it my all to help my teammates. I hope we play a great game. I always want to win, whether I’m training or playing cards with my wife!"
