One of the stars of the Barça win over Elche in La Liga was Munir El Haddadi. The 18-year-old made his first team league debut and scored a goal, something that only four players had previously done for the club at his age: Badenes, Milla, Velamazán and Jofre.

At only 18 years and 357 days, Munir became the youngest player to score on the first day of the season for Barca. The Madrid-born striker is also the third youngest Barça player to score in La Liga, behind Bojan and Messi

Here are some other stats from the Barça v Elche match:

  • Barça is the team that has got off to the most winning starts in La Liga (53).
  • Nine of the last ten Barça coaches have made winning debuts in La Liga. The only one not to do so was  Pep Guardiola (2008/09).
  • It's only the fourth time that Barça have started the season with a forward line who all came through the youth system. The other years were 1928, 1970 and 2012.
  • Barça made 751 passes, to Elche's 280.
  • Rakitic was the most active player: 105 completed passes from 118 attempts.
  • Jordi Alba recovered most balls: 10.
