After speaking to Club President Bartomeu, Éric Abidal revealed today that: “I’ve spoken with the President and I hope we’ll have some good news next week. I’ll be talking with him again before the weekend - my idea has always been to be the director of the schools."

Asked about the team’s current state, Abidal insisted: “what matters is that they are all united. I’d say to the fans that they, like me, should be Barça fans till the very end and get behind the team." Commenting on the speculation around Leo Messi, Abidal made it clear that: “I can only see him here. He’s the best player in the world and he has to be at this Club."

Abidal was supporting a book titled in Catalan “Relats Solidaris”, written by sporting journalists and the now retired defender is in Barcelona for a few days therefore he took the opportunity to present the Catalan Cystic Fibrosis Association with a cheque for €51,990 from sales of the book.
