Dani Alves in action against Paraguay / RAFAEL RIBEIRO-CBF

Dani Alves’ Copa America 2015 came to an end last night after Brazil were knocked out by Paraguay on penalties and the Barça wing back spoke to the media after the defeat: “we should have had more possession in the second half, we read the game wrong – we should have been able to control it. The defeat is own to the whole team not to any one player”.

Despite Brazil’s surprise exit, Dani Alves’ stats at the competition were pretty impressive: playing the full 368 minutes (something only Jefferson, Fernandinho, Filipe Luis and Miranda shared in the Brazil team), he led the side in passes (256) with 83,6% of them successful.

In defence, Alves won back the ball on 27 occasions and received more fouls (11) than he committed (9), picking up a single yellow card, In attack,  the Barça man had four shots(one on target and three off) and made two assists, as well as creating nine goal opportunities.
