On Saturday the blaugranes will receive a visit from an old friend whom they have not seen for quite some time. Córdoba are back in the top flight following an absence of 42 years. Up until this season the club from Andalusia had only spent eight seasons in the First Division between 1962 and 1972. During that time they made eight visits to Camp Nou, losing on all eight occasions. In those games Barça scored 27 goals and conceded just eight.

In each game Barça scored at least twice with the visitors also finding the net on every occasion except the 4-0 defeat in the season 1971/72. The last time the two sides met in Barcelona was on the 6th of January, 1972 with the home side running out victors thanks to goals from Dueñas, Rexach, Asensi and Juan Carlos

Recent meeting in the Cup

The sides have also met twice in the Spanish Cup. The first came in the last 16 in the 1963/64 – Barça came out on top in both legs that season. A more recent meeting came in the last 16 in 2012/13. The blaugranes were once again clearly superior winning 2-0 away in Andalusia and 5-0 at home in Camp Nou against a Córdoba who were then still a Second Division side.
