FC Barcelona have a wonderful set of four different strips this season

The yellow third kit has now been unveiled, the final piece in the FC Barcelona collection for 2014/15. The first strip is, of course, in the traditional Barça colours. The second strip is crimson, the third, launched yesterday midnight (CET), features two shades of yellow, and not forgetting the hugely popular yellow and red striped shirt in the colours of the Catalan flag.

The famous first strip

The first strip was released under the slogan ‘Crafted to Win’ and naturally features the famous red and blue stripes that date all the way back to the origins of the club around the turn of the last century. But this season, the tones are somewhat darker than they have been in recent years, with slightly brighter and broader stripes. It also boasts a new crest, and a unique relaxed blue collar infused with Catalan pride, showcasing a Senyera flag in the open V-neck. It is the first time the Catalan flag has appeared on the front of the club's shirt.

Crimson second strip

The second shirt sports a crew neck collar and is entirely bright crimson except for the deep cuffs, which represent the traditional FCB colours, red on the front and blue on the back. On the back of the collar inside the neck is the Catalan flag between FC Barcelona’s red and blue home colours, and this detail is repeated on the back of the collar, but with ‘Barca’ in blue and the club’s unique club font below it. The shorts and socks also employ the same shade of crimson.

Thirs strip, two shades of yelloe

The shirt, shorts and socks all feature a strong, bright yellow on the front and a darker shade of the same yellow on the back. The two shades are divided by a blue line, and the same blue is used for the trim in honour of one of the two traditional colours of the FC Barcelona first strip. These stripes lead from the neck, along the shoulders, and down the sides of the shirt, shorts and socks. When the players move, the line moves to accentuate the outline of their bodies, creating the sensation of speed. The new shirt, which can now be reserved at nike.com/fcb will go on sale on September 25. Shortly after, the first team will be wearing it for the first time in an official match, the Champions League fixture away to Paris Saint Germain on September 30.

The 'senyera' strip

This season’s official collection will continue to include the popular design in the colours of the Catalan flag, and will still be used whenever the club feels it would be appropriate, as was the case recently against Athletic Bilbao. It’s proved a huge success with the fans and will still be on sale at nike.com/fcb and all the other usual outlets
