Carles Puyol takes part in the World Cup final ceremony

The former FC Barcelona captain brought the World Cup trophy to the Maracaná ahead of the World Cup final between Germany and Argentina

Carles Puyol was part of the pre-match ceremony before the World Cup final. The former FC Barcelona captain was tasked with bringing in the World Cup trophy to the Maracaná before kick off.

Barça’s legendary No5, who is now part of the Club’s governing Board, was accompanied by Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen.

Just as Italian Fabio Cannavaro in 2010, FIFA wanted to honour Puyol for both his careers at the club level with Barça and international level with Spain.

It’s worth noting that Puyol travelled to Brazil along with President Josep Maria Bartomeu, Sporting Director of Football Andoni Zubizarreta and Vice-President Carles Vilarrubí.
