Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was ecstatic following the third consecutive win of Barça’s league season, 2-0 against Athletic Bilbao, especially as “it was difficult for us to break the deadlock … We couldn’t score. But eventually we got a win that will do us a lot of good. Athletic is a tough, hard-working team and they are clearly more into their rhythm after playing in the Champions League qualifiers.

He also spoke about how pleased he was to have started yet another game. “I’m very happy in this team” he said, and went on to comment on how, when you play for a team that dominates games as much as Barça do, goalkeepers don’t get as involved in the action as they tend to at other clubs. “It’s very different here” he said. “You have to be very attentive and follow the game closely.” He also mentioned this week’s opening clash in the Champions League against APOEL of Cyprus, saying that “it’ll be a new challenge, and a tough match like we had today. That was a very demanding game.”

He also explained why he returned early from international duty for Chile. It was because “they let me come back because they wanted to rotate the players and give other keepers a chance.”

Here are some comments from other players after the match:

“The team played a very complete match. That’s three now”.

“The most important thing is that we haven’t conceded any goals in any of our first three games”.

“I feel very comfortable in this team”.

“We still need a bit of match practice but we’re on the right track”.

“We talk a lot among ourselves in defence and that’s really helpful”.

“We know that our first duty is to defend because these strikers are always going to score”.

“We run risks by playing so deep but the whole team works hard to win back the ball in the attack zone”.

“At Barça we have more space behind us, so you have to concentrate hard”.

“Luis Enrique is demanding, but he knows what kind of game he wants. I’m really happy with him”.

“It was a difficult game against a difficult opponent with young, strong players”.

“They started before the season began. They are a quality team and play the ball around well”.

“We were uncomfortable until we finally scored, but I think we were the better side and deserved to win”.

“In general, without looking at the results, we’re doing well. Not just the midfielders, but the whole team”.

“We are working well even though this is just the beginning of the season”.

“We take one game at a time. Next it’s the Champions League, a different competition. Our first game is at home and we want the three points”.

“We all like the Champions League. We want to get off to a good start. We don’t know much about Apoel but they’re in the Champions League and have gone a long way in the past. This week we’ll be preparing for the game”.
