The FC Barcelona players voted on Friday for the candidates for the FIFA Fifpro World XI 2014, which is organised by the International Federation of Professional Footballers (Fifpro) by the players themselves. Voting opened on September 30 for more than 60,000 professional players from around the world.
The result will be announced on January 12, 2015 at the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala in Zurich.
The candidates for a place in the XI will be revealed next week. The five goalkeepers will be announced on Monday 24, the 20 defenders on Wednesday 26, the 15 midfielders on Friday 28 and finally the 15 strikers on December 1.
At the 2013 edition, there were four Barça players in the final eleven: Dani Alves, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta and Leo Messi. A further five, Víctor Valdés, Jordi Alba, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets and Neymar were among the 55 candidates.
