Barça on a great run since defeat at Real Sociedad

Luis Enrique's men have recorded 26 wins, one draw and one defeat since losing to the Basque side

The year 2015 began with a defeat for the blaugranes in Anoeta against Real Sociedad who took all three points thanks to an own goal from Jordi Alba. That result prevented Barça from taking advantage of leaders Real Madrid’s defeat against Valencia just hours before. However, the defeat on 4 January has been pushed to the back of everyone’s minds thanks to the fantastic form of Luis Enrique’s side since that rainy evening in San Sebastián.

Since the game in Anoeta Barça have accumulated 26 wins, one draw and just one defeat. They have won their five games in the Champions League in the current calendar year, the most recent being the impressive 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg of the semi-finals. In the Spanish Cup Barça came through the last 16, the quarter-finals and the semi-finals to take their place in the final against Athletic Bilbao at Camp Nou on 30 May. The only draw came in the league against Sevilla (2-2), and their sole defeat also came in the league at home to Málaga (0-1). Nevertheless, 16 wins in 18 matches have allowed the blaugranes to take first place in the table with a two point advantage over rivals Real Madrid with three games to go.

Real Sociedad's figures

Real Sociedad, for their part, have moved away from the bottom of the table since the half way point of the campaign. Right now they are in eleventh place with their inconsistent form reflecting their position in the table. In their last 18 league matches they have recorded six wins, seven draws and five defeats and in the Spanish Cup they were eliminated by Villarreal after a draw and a defeat in their last 16 tie.
