APOEL win ahead of trip to Camp Nou

FC Barcelona's next opponents left it late before finally getting the better of Ermis Aradippo Ajax also won, but PSG could only draw with Rennes

FC Barcelona’s first Champions League opponents will be APOEL Nicosia, who struggled to pick up a 1-0 win at home to Ermis Aradippou today. The tie was deadlocked until the 88th minute, when Sherindan finally grabbed the winner that leaves his side top of the Cypriot First Division.

Another of the teams in Group F, Ajax Amsterdam also won today, 2-1 against Heracles Almelo. Polish striker Milik got both the goals in a match that Frank de Boer’s side dominated from start to finish, the only blemish being a late consolation goal for the visitors with four minutes remaining. Ajax are now three points adrift of leaders with PSV, who play later on this evening.

But it was not such a bright day for PSG as they played their final league match before taking on the Dutch in the UCL. They opted to rest both Thiago Silva and David Luiz against Rennes and despite taking the lead through Camara just before the break, they failed to take command of the match and eventually N'tep claimed an equaliser for the home side. The draw leaves PSG one point behind leaders Bordeaux, who have a game in hand.
