Sergi Roberto, Ter Stegen and Bravo participant in the traditional 'rondo' exercise / MIGUEL RUIZ

When the likes of Suárez, Xavi and Sergi Roberto are the protagonists of a warm-up drill, it instead becomes a display of some sublimely brilliant football skill. But in this video, we can also appreciate how goalkeepers Bravo and Ter Stegen are capable of amazing footwork.

The exercise known locally as a rondo ('round'), in which the players form a ring and pass the ball to each other, with a certain number of players, usually two, in the middle trying to intercept or tackle them, is the staple exercise at the start of every Barça training session. It was apparently introduced to the club's routine by Englishman Vic Buckingham, the former Ajax coach who was in charge of the FC Barcelona first team from 1969-1971. It’s an exercise every footballer will be familiar with, but at Barça it has been taken to the next level and forms an integral part of the development of its famous passing game. Enjoy the video!
