After a difficult week in which some media outlets suggested that Andoni Zubizarreta had offered his resignation, which was not accepted, as a result of the sanction imposed by FIFA on FC Barcelona, the Sports Director denied the suggestion. "There was no resignation or anything resembling one. I feel really well supported by the Board and I'm not one to jump ship when things get tough, just the opposite", he told Barca TV after the game against Betis (3-1).

According to him, "our model is not a new one, but one that we’ve been working on for a long time, and will continue to do so". He did admit that that the Club had faced a "tough week" due to the FIFA sanction, which in his opinion is "over the top"

As for the football, the Sporting Director acknowledged that Barça struggled to beat Betis: "We found it hard, we never controlled the pace of the game. We got the goals, we won the game, but we were a bit bland…..we didn’t move the ball quickly enough".
