Andoni Zubizarreta was present at the Champions League draw, where FC Barcelona were matched with three of Europe’s most historic sides: Milan, Ajax and Glasgow Celtic. “I am glad that they are historic clubs” he said. “I like going to San Siro, to Celtic Park and the Ajax stadium. They’re teams and stadiums with a great football atmosphere”.

But Barça’s director of sport expects a tough group. “They usually say you’re in the group of death, or that you’re already through to the next round. I just have to remind you how hard we found it last year in the games against Milan and Celtic. That tells us that it’ll be a difficult group”. As for Ajax, Zubizarreta mentioned the historic links between the clubs, adding that “it’s odd we’ve never been drawn together or played an official match before”.
